I'm a styrofoam cup yo!!

Keegan will randomly say this in his best 'gangsta' voice. I am sure no one back home would even get it, but us cool people here on the rock know exactly what he is quoting....one of our beloved AFN commercials. I think it is quite a shame some people live their entire lives without ever having the opportunity to view AFN commercial.
Here are a few of our favorites,
I couldn't find my all time favorite though, its the one with the fire in the dorm room, and the guy has wasted the fire extinguisher, that one is my favorite ;)

Cheerios

Dayton loves to eat cheerios, however, his style is a little unusual. He gets both hands full then eats whats on the table with his mouth only, saving the ones in his hands for last.

Merry Christmas

I hope everyone had a great Christmas, I can't believe it has already passed! The kids had a great Christmas, they all recieved more toys than they need. My favortite toy was the eyeclops Santa left for Keegan. I have spent coutless hours examining everything within reach of the TV....I want to drag the TV into the Kitchen so I can do some investigating in there. Just in case you are wondering feet, telephones, and earrings are gross:P

Its Snowing

In our dining room....

Dayton has started pulling up on everything, so last week he pulled up at the paper shredder. It flipped over and out came the paper. He and Braden had alot of fun playing in it. I however spent lots of time cleaning it up...and I am still finding bits of paper here and there. The funniest thing was when I went to change Daytons clothes, I pulled off his shirt and it started snowing again. Somehow a good bit had gotten inside his clothes.
This is as close to snow as we will get this year.

My New Do!

Happy Birthday to Me!

Well, not yet. My birthday is coming up though (December 23rd if you want to send me an awesome gift ;) and tonight a very good friend offered to watch the kids for us (Thanks Kat) so Thomas and I ventured out for a nice grown-up dinner. We went to Macaroni Grill over on the Marine Corp base. It was our first time to go there and we really enjoyed it. The food was delicious!! Afterwards we decided to go over to the PX and do a little child free shopping. It is quite amazing how simple shopping is without kids. We had a great time and it was nice to be able to have a conversation without being interrupted.

Oh Christmas Tree! Oh Christmas Tree!

Christmas is here!! Can you believe it?? Only a week away?? Where has the year gone?? The past few weeks we have been doing odd and end things that have gradually gotten me into the Christmas Spirit. This is our first holiday season away from Family. The weather is still so warm here (the boys played in the water Sunday), and unlike in the States, you aren't bombarded with Christmas music, decorations and gadgets in the stores here. It just doesn't seem like Christmas. But it is here, and after drinking some hot apple cider and listening to Christmas Music the past few days, I am now in the spirit.
We have told the boys the Story of Christmas Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket Which they really didn't remember. Later that evening Braden drew some of his stick figures and asked me to draw the star over the baby! I was so excited that he remembered!
The boys and I have baked cookies for all our friends and neighbors. We finally got a tree up (that's a whole different story) The boys bought each others gifts. Keegan and Braden bought books to exchange and Dayton is getting the leapster Caterpillar from Keegan and Braden, Keegan is hoping Dayton will learn his ABC's soon :)
Last weekend we watched "A Christmas Story" Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket I think it is Keegans new Favorite movie. Gifts came in from Mississippi, and the boys were allowed to go ahead and open one each. Braden got a shiny new Hummer,Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket Dayton got an activity table and Keegan hit the jackpot with a Cranium game. Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket They love Cranium games, and I think Santa may have a few more. This game is Zooreka and we have played it at least a dozen times over the past few days. You have to do various things to add a habitat to your Zoo, once your Zoo is completed with four habitats you win!! The boys love anything about animals too, so this game is great, Thanks Maw Mary and Aunt Tessia!!!
Oh by the way, the reason for my title...every time Braden sees a Christmas tree he starts singing the song :)

wooo-hooo!

Dayton slept from 8:30pm until 5:30 am in HIS CRIB!!! Words cannot express my excitement!!!!!!!!!!!!! Please let this be his new habit!!

Hmmmm...

What do brown boots, black stockings, stonewash denim shorts, a silk camisole, a pink shirt, and a red and black plaid backpack have in common?

She was wearing them all!

Japanese style never ceases to amaze me....

Gate 2 Festival

A few weekends ago we went to out to the Gate Festival with Jessica and her boys. The kids had a great time, and it was fun to see and hear all the different bikes. Afterwards Thomas was regretting that he sold his before we came here.
I had to take a picture of this little guy, he was so cute!! At the festival a few different Taiko groups were performing. It is so neat to watch these small children know all the moves. I didnt actuall see this guy dancing, but there were some very young kids out there.

This is the big dog that dances along with them. In the one picture he is 'eating' Keegan. And, oh how the Japanese ladies love little American kids.

The first bike above was my favorite, it looked like it was from the 70's. The second one wit the little sidecar was cool too! I don't know if you can see the detail or not, but the next guy had a really cool looking helmet. The kids were playing one of the games the vendors had set up on the sidewalk. And, I love a guy on a hot pink bike ;) Lastly, notice his heat. It was kinda neat.

Keegans Thanksgiving Program

For Thanksgiving this year the wonderful First Grade teachers helped the children in performing a few little songs and skits for the parents. Keegan is in the center of the photo with the Indian headband on, although his feathers never would stand up :) After the program each class, along with their families went back to the classroom for a traditional Thanksgiving dinner.

Soccer is Over :(

Keegans soccer season ended last week. As I said before, I am a bit relieved. It is nice to not have to be somewhere three nights a week. Keegan loves soccer, it is his favorite sport so far. He is pretty good at it too! Here are a few pics from one of his last games. He is #9, some pics you can only see his back

Long time...no blog ;)

Time to play catch-up!
We have been so busy lately it seems..although I have no real answer why?! Nothing new or exciting, just plain old busy Mom I guess. Keegans soccer ended a fe weeks ago, and for the time being we have no extra activities. Which I shamefully say, excites me just a bit. I do not have the strength or mental capacity to keep three kids clean, fed, read to, assisted with homework, and house clean, on top of doing sports 3-5 nights a week. So, for now, I am sticking to the basics. We have time to go to the library again. I have time to play board games with the boys, and we all sit at the table everynight to a nice home-cooked meal. Thats the important stuff, right?

My Little Artist

Keegan LOVES to draw! He can go through a 500 sheet pack of white paper, a box of crayons and a package of markers in just a few short days. Last night we rented ET and watched it. I am encouraging (forcing) the kids to watch some older movies. They really enjoy them once they do sit down and watch them. And theres only so much SpongeBob, Bionicles, and Lightening McQueen one Mom can take.

As soon as Keegan woke this morning he drew this. (for some reason the scanner divided it into three pics?)

First Tooth!

Daytons first tooth popped through yesterday!! It took about 14 hours of crying to gert it through, but he did it! Just before bedtime it broke through his gum. He is almost 8 months old, so I guess it is about time.

Mihama Ferris Wheel

A few weekends ago we had ventured out to Mihama American Village. We decided to take the boys to ride the Ferris Wheel for the first time. The sky was nice and clear, so it looked like a great day to get a birds eye view of the area. I read somewhere that the ferris wheel is 50ft. high. Seems alot higer than that when you are looking at the ground. IT was really fun, I think I was the only one a bit scared. I made everyone stay as still as possible so we didnt rock our little carriage.

Binge Blogger

I am a binge blogger. I have the time to post and catch up on some things, so here you go!

KES celebrated Red Ribbon week last month. The purpase of Red Ribbon week is to teach the kids to Say NO to Drugs!! Each day had a different theme. I think Monday was "Dont let Drugs turn you inside out" so the kids wore their clothing inside out. Then Tuesday was pajama day, Wednesday was Sports day and Keegan wore his soccer uniform, Thursday was Crazy Hair day, Keegan had his hair spiked :) On Friday everyone wore red and they had a small parade around the block. At the end of the parade we were met witht the 3rd MEF band. They were awesome!

Here a couple videos I took. It was really windy, sorry about the noise :)

My very own Jack-O-Lantern

I know I am late in posting this, but Keegan lost another tooth just a few days before Halloween. I told him that he was my very own Jack-O-Lantern!!

Bowling Fun

Here are some pics from a recent "field trip" Braden took. We try to arrange an outing with his friends once a week or so. He excitedly refers to them as his field trips. For this field trip we called a few friends and invited them to meet up at the bowling alley. There were 9 kids there and a few babies. Everyone had so much fun!

What do you want to be when you grow up?

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
For the past several months Braden has told everyone that when he grows up he wants to be in the army. More recently that has changed to him wanting to be an Army Diver (I have no idea if these exist as he hasn't met with the recruiter yet ;) I have tried my best to talk him out of it. But, being the stubborn three year old he is, he is still determined. Until...
I let him help me make pizza! Now he wants to be a pizza man! I am so proud :) No more dreams of the Army (at least not for this week)

Who's Raising Who?

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

I shamefully must admit I received my first speeding ticket this week. Yes, it was my first ever. I was driving 54kmh (33mph) in a 40kmh (24mph) area. I knew the speed limit in residential areas was 40, but I didn't think I was in a residential area, never mind the posted speed limit, I mean really, who has time to read the signs). Well, the street I was on has a Dorm building, and I guess since some people reside there, it is deemed 'residential'. I assumed the speed limit in housing was lower because of children out playing, etc. Anyone living in the dorms should have enough sense to stay out of the street right?
Well the next day I decided to tell Keegan that Mommy had gotten a ticket the day before. He looks at me in complete astonishment. "Mom, did you tell Daddy yet?" "Yes, Hun, I told him yesterday" "Did you lose your license? Did you go to jail?" "No Hun, I just got a ticket and points on my license." "Well, what would you have done if they had taken your license." "I dont know" "I guess you would have put them in the jogging stroller and pushed them all around the place to run your errands, huh" "Yes son, you are right, I will be more careful next time" "Good!"

Who is raising Who?

Beautiful Days

The weather has finally cooled a bit to where it is tolerable to spend periods of time outdoors. A few Saturdays ago it was so beautiful outside, so we decided to spend the day at the park. We chose Okinawa Comprehensive Park. This has become one of our favorite spots to hang out. We loaded up the van with kids, water, snacks, stroller, scooter, bicycles, and helmets. Then off we weren't. Once we arrived we decided to give kite flying a try first. It was so windy we weren't able to fly them for too long, so out came the scooter and bicycle. The boys rode all over the place. Our first stop was at the playground. The boys played on the swings and roller slides, they climbed through the tunnels, and did all of the other dangerous things there were to do there. If you've never been to a Japanese playground, you must understand, they trust their kids way more than we do. They are so much more dangerous, which of course, means more fun for the little ones. After the playground they rode bikes some more, then we went to feed this fish in the pond. We rented a paddleboat and took the kids out to feed even more fish. Keegan and Braden had a good time, Dayton wasn't so sure about having to wear a life vest.
