Barbie is eeewwwww!

Daytons vocabulary has really blossomed over the past few weeks as he has become our little mocking bird, repeating everything he hears.  Tonight at the dinner table we were talking and everything we said he would ask for it, we were talking about food and everything I mentioned he would say "I want tomatoes!" or "I want cake!"  so Keegan asked him if he wanted Barbies?  His reply "I don't want Barbies, Barbies are eeeewww!

Then he kept on with "Braden is eeew, Keegan (pronounced cheeee-none) is eeew, Dayton isn't eeew, Daddy is eeew, Mama, Daddy is eew because Daddy farts!"

Thomas will make me take this off so hopefully you are getting to read it before he sees it.  It was just too funny not to share though!

How I killed my favorite Green Shirt

I have had this green shirt for a very long time, much longer than what I should have.  It had lost it's shape, had a few bleach spots and was overall not very attractive.  Bu tI still wore it, all the time.  I wore it Saturday night when we had friends over for dinner and to play the Wii.

Then, just before dinner as I was setting out the salad, I got out the new bottle of Vinaigrette I had bought.  It looked delicious and I couldn't wait to try it.  Bekah, Missy and I were chatting about something and I flipped open the top of the dressing bottle to see that pesky little white seal.  You know the one that is on mustard and mayo bottles, the one that seals the bottle.  So, I have to remove the top to take that seal off.  We are still chatting about something that probably seemed very important at the time.  Without looking down I remove the top, then think to myself it is Vinagarette might as well shake it while I am standing here and then I thought I had died.  My world went black, my eyes were burning.  Then I hear everyone start laughing and I am trying to blindly find my way to the sink.  Apparently that pesky little white seal had stuck to the lid and when I shook the bottle full force, nothing was covering the top.  I basically threw vinegar into my eyes.  Yes it hurt, it burned for a few hours.  Not only did I shake it into my eyes, but I managed to hit Bekah right across the face and the front of her shirt.  Thank goodness she wears glasses, although it took forever to remove the oil residue from the lenses.  Missy wasn't standing as close by, but she still got it on her shirt.  There was dressing all over the floor, ceiling, my cabinets, the other food setting out in the kitchen.  Once we realized what happened I laughed harder than I have in a very long time.  I am still finding dressing in odd places in the kitchen :)

Naha Bingata Factory

Keegans 2nd grade class took a field trip to the Bingata factory down in Naha.  Bingata is a traditional Okinawan textile.  They use stencils and dye to create these beautiful pieces of fabric.

Keegan was very happy to not be at school that day!

The process right to left.  The kids were given step 2 and did step 3, the rest will be finished by the workers and the kids should get them in time for Mothers Day gifts.

Little cups of paint.
Some graffiti on the tablecloth in front of me.

I love Red Hibiscus.  When I asked Keegan what color he wanted he said. "Red just like the ones we saw in Hawaii!"  Nevermind that there are red ones all over the place here.  He remembers the ones he saw there almost a year ago!

Off topic, but blogworthy nonetheless.  You may have to click on the picture to make it large enough to see, but you have  soap, water and a dryer all in one contraption right there at the sink.  Of course, in true Japanese tradition.  There was no soap.  There never is soap.  BYOS (bring your own soap)

After leaving the factory we went to a park.  He wasn't very happy in this picture because he was 'starving.'

1 PB&J later he was ready to go again.

We had a great time and I am so glad I was able to go.  Keegan and I rarely get time with just the two of us, so it was fun.  I need to start scheduling dates with all my boys so they get time alone.

Happy Birthday Braden!

February 21st Braden turned 5 years old. We celebrated with a small party at the park complete with great friends, chocolate cupcakes and a bouncy house. The best birthday he has ever had, that's what he said.

He hit the jackpot with several great gifts, his favorite was getting enough money from Mamaw Mary and Aunt Tessia to buy an iPod shuffle. It is bright green and his prized possession at the moment. He has really surprised me by taking great care of it.

He also loved what our friends John Grayson and Addy gave him. When he opened the envelope he yelled, "A THOUSAND MONIES!!" Yes it is 1000¥, close to $10USD.

I need to blog

I know I do, and I have so many little stories I want to tell, but where oh where do I find the time? Lately any extra minutes that can be used for my internet addiction, are given to facebook. It's a wonderful and sinful thing. Laundry piles up around me as aI chat with a friend from back home or a cousin I haven't seen in ages. Speaking of said cousin, he is going to be my neighbor soon! Ok, maybe not my neighbor neighbor, but he will be here on the island in August. I am so excited! We haven't seen each other in 13 years or so, it will be wonderful to catch up and to have real family here for the holidays. He is in the Marine Corps and will be on an 8 month deployment here, so will actually leave just a few months before us. I can't wait to show him around the island, introduce him to my family, and then use him for babysitting. That's what family is for, right? No?
